From intimate private terrace experiences to candlelit trattorias — the complete guide to romantic dining in Montepulciano, Tuscany
Montepulciano has everything that romantic dining requires: extraordinary wine, excellent food, medieval setting, panoramic views and a pace of life that encourages lingering. But the most romantic dinner here is not necessarily in the most obvious place. Here's the full guide.
A romantic dinner in Tuscany is not primarily about the food (though the food matters). It is about the setting, the pace, the level of attention and the sense that the evening was created specifically for you and your partner.
The key elements:
Exclusive use of our private garden terrace: no other guests, a personalised menu built around your preferences, full wine pairing with a dedicated sommelier, candles and the panoramic view of the Val d'Orcia at night.
This is genuinely private — not a table in a corner but an entire garden reserved for you and your partner (or your group). The chef designs the menu after a brief conversation about preferences; the sommelier selects the wines to match each course. The setting — a walled garden with panoramic views at 600 metres altitude — is extraordinary.
From €140 per person. Contact us via WhatsApp to discuss dates and menus.
Our most exclusive fixed format: eight seats, seven courses, no written menu, full wine pairing. Maximum 8 guests — so it's never crowded. Available Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
The menu changes weekly based on seasonal ingredients from local producers. Each course is narrated by the sommelier as it arrives. The experience lasts approximately 3.5 hours. This is not a casual dinner — it is an event. €180 per person.
For those who want a proper local trattoria experience without the formality of a private experience:
Osteria del Conte — small, family-run, genuinely local food. The pici al ragù is excellent and the wine list features a well-chosen selection of Vino Nobile producers.
Ristorante Diva e Maceo — slightly larger, reliable quality, good value. The terrace (in summer) has a partial view of the Val d'Orcia.
Buy wine directly from a cantina. Buy pecorino at Pienza and salumi from the Saturday market. Drive to one of the vineyard viewpoints south of Montepulciano — the road between Montefollonico and Torrita di Siena has extraordinary sunset views — and watch the sun go down with a glass of Vino Nobile and nobody around.
This costs very little and creates the kind of memory that expensive restaurants can't manufacture.
For those planning a proposal in Montepulciano, our Private Terrace Dinner can be arranged with champagne, flowers and a discreet photographer. Contact us via WhatsApp at least two weeks in advance. We have helped organise dozens of proposals from this terrace — the setting makes the moment extraordinary.
The light at golden hour, the view, the wine and the privacy: everything conspires to make the answer yes.
Private sunset wine tasting, AIS-certified sommelier, exclusive hilltop garden in Montepulciano. Maximum 18 guests.
